We may agree that EU is the most stable regionalism in this era. Nowdays EU become the role model of other regionalism such as ASEAN, APEC ect. We can see that EU looks like country because EU have strong authority. Even stronger than its member even though EU only international organization. The EU system has brought people and economies stable and strengthened integration. Maybe if we ask those from Germany, France, Italy, Belgium or others in Europe, some of them will answer that they are from Europe, not from their origin country. This is evidence that the EU has strong integration. It will be different if we compare people from the EU with people in other regions such as ASEAN. If we ask those who come from Indonesia or Malaysia, maybe they will answer that they are from their origin country. They won’t answer ASEAN as their origin regional because they have no sense of belonging for ASEAN as Europhean people in Europe.
What about the economy? The EU free market is currently the most advanced in the world. Because of free markets, people from one country can have jobs in other EU countries. The EU GDP is 17.1 trillion USD with an economic growth of 2.9. (World Bank)
That is the fact of how the EU progresses. In addition to the facts, we may have the question of whether the European Union can scatter? Who can make the EU scatter? and how the EU spread? Can Brexit be followed by another country?
Far Right Group
Maybe the existence of the far right group is a warning sign for the European Union. So, what’s far right group and how this group affect the EU ? This group attracted my attention in 2016-2017 because this group strongly influenced elections in Europe. This group exists because there are people in Europe who lack confidence in the EU. They think the bad thing that they get is more than the good thing. Such as job losses that caused by many immigrant workers in their country. . It’s caused the free market that ruled by EU, so they think they cant enjoy the benefits of the EU free market.
Other reason why the far right group exist because there so many refugees come to Europe. EU has a commitment to receive and give the asylum for some refugees who come to Europe. At the first, Europhean was welcomed by refugees who came to Europe, but now they think that refugees are the source of the problem. Such as terrorism attacks in Paris, Nice, Brussels, or Berlin. There is always a refugee action in every terrorist attack in Europe. This is the case of Islamophobia in Europe. What I have written above is proof that the EU is the source of the problem and not the source of opportunity. It become the inspiration for far right group to out from the EU. They hope their country can seprate from EU rule and then they hope their country make better rule than EU’s rule.
The far right group become group that growing rapidly. Even this group affect the political aspect in Europe. The party that reprsented their aspiration such as blue party in Germany and National Front in France. We can call them as extreme –right party and their aspiration is to bring their country out from EU like what UK did in Brexit. In the election they get pretty much support from people, even Marine Le-Pen from French national party was qualified for final round in French election against Emmanuel Macron from En-Marche party. Europe is lucky nowdays ‘cause the one who become the winer is moderate leader like Macron and Merkel who pro to EU. But if Macron or Merkel can’t tackle the issue lack trust for EU it possible to extreme-right party to win the next election, and it’s very possible there’s next Brexit if extreme right party win the election and it’s become urgent for EU to tackling this issue in Germany and France because both is the most imporant country for EU.
The far right group could be the warning sign for the EU that it must take care to the populist issue such as how to make free trade fair for local worker, about the refugees, and how to solve the problem of lack trust for EU. KOIN has discussed about the relation between EU and far right group. We were conclude that EU as the strongest regionalism and has a good system won’t be easy to be scatter. Well, i believe that impossible is nothing. It means that it’s possible if EU to be scatter if EU can’t solve the problem that become demand of far right group specially in France and Germany.
